Arts and Crafts close together
image author: Frank Preuß Frau Benthin's original career aspiration and great dream was to become a fashion designer.
She was unfortunately badly advised and took one of the often odd DDR occupational directions.
She trained as textile technician but was mostly occupied in rather foreign jobs like crane operator and welding.
image author: Liane Benthin After the unification further experiences were added like nature watch -assistant at the Biosphärenreservat Schorfheide-Chorin, alpaca-breeder and child minder
These influences are reflected in her artistic works.
image author: Liane Benthin These are mostly wooden sculptures that she produces to order. Her crafts and practical abilities help her to make figures, everyday items or animals out of tree trunks. It is important to her that art takes place in everyday life so that things, which are used daily, should have an artistic value or vice versa art items have a practical use.
image author: Liane Benthin Another artistic passion is the built-up ceramic in rural-romantic form, but can't be enjoyed right now in absence of a kiln.
