Altkünkendorf is one of the Uckermark's oldest and loveliest villages.
First recorded in 1287 it offers its citizens and cultural and nature loving visitors still today several attractions despite its size.
image author: Frank Preuß The church, restored in 2001 and 2003 (Stüler-building) with its organ offers a suitable room for music events. The church is in August stage for the Uckermärkischen Music Weeks.
The church tower can be climbed and offers the best view onto the surrounding hills and the nearby Heiligen Lake and the Wolletzsee.
Church guided tours with a qualified church guide are also possible by arrangement (Tel. 033 337/306).

Overnight accommodations are also available in the village, either at the lovely renovated estate or at an avant-garde wooden house.
Altkünkendorf is a great starting point for walks to different landmarks like the Glambecker Mill, the base and event place of the National Park Schorfheide-Chorin, or the Blocksberg, with 139 metres the highest 'mountain' in the area.
The area around Altkünkendorf is nearly all part of the Nature Reserve. The UNESCO sanctuary Zur Großen Wiese was established for the settlement of the great bittern. It makes bird watching possible.
