A warm welcome to Angermünde
Between Lakes and Nature
image author: Tourismus-Marketing Brandenburg GmbH
Diversity - Angermünde attaches great importance to that. But with the
excellent location is that not a problem!
Cycling, hiking, water sports or just relaxing in the sun: Nothing stands in the way. As the town is framed by the big protected areas
National Park Unteres Odertal and
Biosphärenreservat Schorfheide-Chorin as well as the
Parsteiner- the Wolletz- and the
Münde Lake.
The historical town centre Angermünde with a nearly square floor plan goes back to the first half of the 13th century. A cultural expedition through the town promises lots of variety. The city wall relicts with the gun-powder tower and castle ruin, the Marien-Church where the Angermünder summer concerts take place annually, the Franciscan monastery church and the Heiliggeist-Chapel stem form this time.
The
townscape is also formed by the many recently restored
town and half-timbered houses from the
18th and 19th century. Bookworms are able to follow in Angermünde in the footsteps of the regional poet,
Ehm Welk. A
Literature Museum where photos and texts are being presented is dedicated to him.
Near Angermünde at the close by Oder is the village Stolpe situated.
On a hill outside the town one is able to see parts of the huge main tower, which also called in the vernacular „Grützpott“.
It is a castle relict that was built here in the year 1200 but didn't survive the centuries.
Do come and see Angermünde.
We look forward to your visit!
