The
Dominican Monastery in Prenzlau was founded on the
year
1270 and is regarded as one of the best preserved
monastery facilities
in North-Germany. Inside the visitor will find the
Culture Historical Museum, which bears witness to the
medieval craftsmanship. Despite major
destruction during the 2nd World War parts of the
medieval city's wall was preserved. The town's landmark was heavily
damaged but was
restored:
The in the
13th and 14th century built
St. Marien-Church is an especially lovely example of North-German
brick gothic.
It is time now for a relaxing steamboat trip on the Unteruckersee after such a lot of cultural stimulus.
The Prenzlauer
Dominican Monastery forms in
late summer together with
Angermünde, Schwedt, Criewen and other
places an impressive atmosphere for the
Music Week of the Uckermark. The unspoiled
nature in the surroundings of Prenzlau will be liked especially by friends of extensive
bicycle tours.
